U.S. Census 1790 Index (R929. U58 v.3), says Jabez is head of household
in Brimfield, Hampshire County, with 3 males<16; 3 males > 16; 5 females.

On July 25, 1743, Jabez Nichols (Jr.) was born in Brimfield,
Hampden County, Massachusetts, the first child of Jabez and Hannah. On March 12, 1767, Jabez married Sarah Brown, also in Brimfield, Mass.
Sarah was born Janurary 15, 1746 in Brimfield, the daughter of
Jonathan Brown and Abigail Russell.
Jabez and Sarah had eleven children, including Enos and the first Lansing or Alanson (an uncle).
Jabez died March 5, 1820, and Sarah on September 16, 1828, both in Brimfield, according to the LDS records. Jabez's death recorded on private records kept by commissioner of cemeteries is March 5, 1819. The record recited its authority astone beside that of Sarah, March 5, 1820."
