Hi, Folks...
I found a crumbly book at UVA library today with two
photos in it... One of the 1707 Rittenhouse home in
Germantown, and one of the first Mennonite Church
in America, in Germantown, at which a preacher named,
you guessed it, Rittenhouse, presided. His descendant
crossed my family line. The name Rittenhouse is
associated with the first Paper Mill in the U.S. too.

The Rittenhouse house still exists and is a thriving historical site with
an active board and educational programs. It is located on Lincoln Drive in
Philadelphia in Wissahickon Park, part of Fairmount Park.

The Rittenhouse House, Wissahickon Park at Rittenhouse St., in
Germantown was built in 1707.
The Mennonite Meeting House, 6119 Germantown Ave. was built in
1770.
Rittenhouse and his Mennonite followers must have met in some
log-type structure well before this, because they are noted in
1688 for making the first protest againist slavery in America.
