2050 Magnolia, Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas The house has long since been gone. The bustling activity of the town has long since moved on to newer parts of town. But this house knew its share of sadness and tragedy for this family. It was in this house that my great grandmother died, being cared for during her fatal bout with the pandemic flu of 1918, as did George Rowley, her son in law only days earlier. And it was this house the following year that another son in law, Rad Gallier had left to run an errand for Mary and was killed in a fatal car accident. (See Radford Gallier death notes) |

Worshipful Master gavel my father, Robert Moyer, served as Worshipful Master in 1970-71 year. He was quite handy with woodwork and he made several gavels for other Worshipful Masters within his lodge for a number of years. This is not one of his gavels. The ones he made were of stained a light maple and the Masonic emblem, itself, made from balsam wood, was glued directly to the head. There were three to a set for each of the chairs that advanced to 3rd degree Mason, or Worshipful Master.
Also served as Worshipful Master:
my grandfather: Ogden Kyle Jones Sr. (c1969-70)
my uncle: Ogden Kyle Jones, Jr. (c1968-69)

- My (owner of this site) grandparents, OK Jones Sr & Lillian, along with my fther and uncles build a beach cabin in the early 1960s in Emerald 1. But it was seldom used and my grandparents decided to sell it. One day in early 70s, they came back from a trip to mow, and freshen up, and reported that they had met up with George Corrigan and is wife while they were down there and the Corrigans offered to buy the cabin on the spot, and the deal was done. Whether the Corrigans kept possession of teh cabin is unknown, but we do know that Hurricane Ike in 2007 swept the whole Bolivar peninsula pretty much clean, including what had been my grandparents' cabin.

- Bevilacqua Store:
as a child I remember going to the grocery store with my grandparents or with my mom when she would take my grandmother to the store. The store was Bevilacqua's, and at that time it was being run by the kids - particularly Camille, who was the daughter my grandmother was closer friends with, and her brother Charlie. But other kids also worked in store including Concetta and Spike. Concetta went to Beaumont High School and was in my dad's class. The store was located on the corner of Washington Blvd and Ave C, and they lived in the house behind the store. They always gave me a soda or candy and were very nice. The building and house are still there (2011) and the store is now tax preparation place.
The parents were Vincent and Concetta Bevilacqua, and were at 2490 (illeg in census but between 2450 and 2510 Park) in the 1930 census. They were immigrants from Italy in 1897, having lived in the United States for 29 years. The census shows him 56 (1874) years old and she 53 (1877) He states married at age 26 and she at age 23, calculating to 1900, but best guess is they married in Italy, before 1897.

- Kautland and Eberhardt neighbors:
living next door to my grandparents were the Katulands. The Kautlands were there forever and even after my grandmother died in 1977. Their daughter Hilda Mae married Carroll Dean - he went by "Dean" - Eberhardt, and my mother was friends with her. She had a child Dennis Dean Eberhardt, who was born just before I was - he on 1 Jul 1946 and me the following Sep. 1946. Hilda made a very pretty little blue dress for me when I was still an infant, and mother had my portrait made wearing that little blue dress. I can remember playing with Dennis sometimes when I would go over to my grandparents' house. But we lost touch with them over the years.
Hilda died 7 Jan 1991. Public records show Dean remarried to Helen Carey in 1996. They were both 75.
